Every Home Needs an Air Purifier
With the temperatures falling outside, families are spending more time inside. As we spend more time indoors, it’s important to monitor your home’s air quality. Indoor air quality can be more toxic than outside. According to the Environmental Protection Agency, indoor air pollutants are often two to five times higher than outdoor levels. The most effective way to improve your indoor air is to reduce the pollutants. Research also shows filtration and ventilation help clean your indoor air.
How Air Purifiers Clean Air
Air purifiers can help reduce indoor air pollution. Depending on the size, air purifiers can filter the air in a single room or large, open-concept area. Air purifiers work by trapping the air pollutants floating around your home. This includes smoke, dust, pollen, pet hair and dander, mold spores and dust mite debris. Once these particles are trapped in your air purifier, they are stored in the filter. Over time these particles build up and decrease the efficiency of the air purifier, which is why it’s important to change your filters regularly.
How the Filtration Process Works
At Hunter, we use a 3-stage filtration to make sure our air purifiers are top of the line. Silver nanoparticles in the EcoSilver pre-filter prevent the growth of microorganisms on the filter, including bacteria and viruses. Coconut carbon in the pre-filter neutralizes harmful VOCs (volatile organic compounds) and household odors from cooking, cleaning, smoking and pets. And finally, the True HEPA filter removes up to 99.97% of airborne particles as small as 0.3 microns including smoke, dust, pollen, pet hair and dander, mold spores and dust mite debris.
Filter Replacement
As a rule of thumb, HEPA filters should be replaced every 6-12 months, depending on air quality and environmental factors. Carbon pre-filters should be replaced every 3 months, depending on air quality and environmental factors. All Hunter air purifiers have a filter replacement indicator on the control panel to let you know when the filters are dirty. We also offer a filter subscription program where you can have replacement filters delivered to your front door on a regular basis.
